1998 Grand Slam/S2 Yachts 9.1 Meter (30 Feet) - NORTH VANCOUVER

in Winfield, AB

$29,000

Seller note:

Exceptional 30 foot racer cruiser, in very clean condition. S2 yachts--still in business as Tiara--is famous for the quality of construction. The fiberglass work is first class, and the balsa-core hull was laid up with Vinylester resin--no blisters and no water intrusion. Bobo was one of the fastest and most expensive boats in the 30' class when she was built. She rates 132 PHRF, faster than a J/30, as fast as many 40' boats. Compared to Catalinas and Hunters she is much better built and sails faster.
I bought this boat in July 2015, when she passed a meticulous survey(available) and sea trial. Since then I added a La Fabrica dodger (the best), anchor roller, and Rocna anchor gear. The Yanmar 2GMF freshwater cooled engine is clean, corrosion free and runs perfectly. It is fitted with a Maxprop feathering propeller for lowest drag under sail. Cruising speed is 6 knots at 3000 RPM and top speed about 6.5. She regularly exceeds these speeds under sail.
She has Raymarine wind speed and direction and tri-data instruments networked to a 2015 Raymarine a95 touch screen GPS plotter and an ST2000+ autopilot.
All the deck hardware is of the highest quality, with Harken blocks and Lewmar winches. There are four #40 sheet winches and two #16ST halyard winches. Spinnaker pole, topping lift and 2 spinnaker halyards are rigged. There is a Harken jib furler currently loaded with a North Mylar 150% genoa in excellent shape, with UV protective strip. Other sails include:
North 3DL Main, fair, sets well but shows signs of wear
North 3DL working jib, excellent
North 3DL 130% genoa, excellent
.75 ounce Spinnaker, very good
1.5 ounce spinnaker, like new
The deck has a very good non-skid pattern, and there are sturdy 24" high double lifelines and stainless steel pulpits. There is a permanent fold-up boarding ladder on the transom. Vinyl cockpit cushions, a cockpit table and drink holders are great for cruising and can store in a large cockpit locker for racing.
The interior originally slept 8, but I converted the upper berths to storage. I kept the cushions so if desired you could convert back quickly. Right now she sleeps 6, two in the vee berth, one in a generous quarter berth. In the main saloon, there is a pull out double and a single opposite. We have usually had just two aboard, with a crew of four for day sails.
The water and fuel tanks are stainless steel, with gauges and in perfect shape. She has pressure water in the galley and head (cold only) and a shower with sump pump. The head (replaced 2017) has a holding tank system which allows direct discharge, dockside pumpout or a macerator pump. Everything works well.
The Galley has a deep sink and a large ice box, with refrigeration which keeps it cold and uses power sparingly. There is good stowage including custom spice, plate and cup racks, with plates and cups included. A 2 burner butane camp stove is secured to the counter top but easily removed. A permanent propane stove could be installed.
The electrical system is done to high standards and features a large DC circuit breaker panel with battery meter and two 100 AH AGM batteries. A new stereo with USB and Bluetooth was installed in 2016. A UNIDEN VHF radio features a wireless remote mic. There is a wired remote for the autopilot allowing steering from the shelter of the dodger.
The main saloon has a beautiful solid teak table which folds up on the bulkhead. When down it seats 4-6 people. When folded it conceals wine and glass shelves.
There is so much to love about this boat, you must see it to appreciate it.
